Hi, my name is Marian Hurtado and I have been photographing families in natural and home settings since 2011. It’s especially wonderful to be able to meet your children and share in their growth over the years. It gives me great pleasure to help a family record and preserve their family history through photography.
About me -- I was born in Cuba and raised in Puerto Rico. My mother, using her old Kodak camera, captured all our family camping and fishing adventures with our dad. There are so many pictures that help me remember the unforgettable moments of our family Hurtado - Ponce de Leon. My mother passed her legacy on to me; through her lens, she transmitted the passion that I live today as a photographer.
After I married, we moved to St. Croix, USVI, and lived there for 21 years. In St. Croix I studied nursing and I worked with newborns. I am the mother of two sons, Victor and Jeffrey Jr. My pregnancies and motherhood were a beautiful period of my life that flew by quickly. I regret now that I don’t have professional photos of my newborn children.
In 2005 we left St. Croix and moved to Orange County, California, where I studied photography at Santa Ana College. I became very active in a local photography group and began to travel with the group and to "RV" with my husband, sharing techniques and practicing what I’ve learned.
I began entering my photographs in the OC Fair and have won several awards -- First Prize, Division Winner, and honorable mentions. In the Mission Viejo Annual Photography Exhibit, I have won Best of Show as well as First, Second, and Third place awards.
I've become a versatile photographer and I’ve developed a passion for photographing maternity, newborns, couples, and families. My specialties are newborns and capturing the joy of a family when a new baby arrives. It is my desire to portray the tenderness and beauty that comes naturally when you look at a baby. I also apply my nursing experience when I work with newborn babies. It’s so important to keep the baby in a safe and relaxed environment.
Doing the “click” with my clients means that my work captures that magical moment of illuminating the character of a man, highlighting the tenderness of motherhood, capturing the family reunion, all with the magic of a sunrise, a show of colors, mixing the dew with the flashes and reflection of light.
If you would like to talk with me about photographing your family, you can send me a message through Facebook or Instagram. We’ll discuss what you would like and what I can do for you. I am available on evenings and weekends and look forward to working with you and your family.
